Atlus announced that Atlus has revealed that Shin Megami Tensei V sales have exceeded the one million mark. This is an important milestone for the series, considering that games from the series haven’t been able to achieve this level of success before (unless you think spin-offs released that fall under the Persona banner).
According to GamesBeat notes, the first installment called Shin Megami Tensei IV for Nintendo 3DS – reached a figure of 600,000 copies. Comparatively, Persona, that is in reality an actual “daughter” from Shin Megami Tensei is a lot more successful like, say, over 1.8 million for the the Persona 5 Royal Re-release (that does not include Persona 5’s initial) in addition to 1.5 millions for the Persona 5-Strikers.
Overall, in general, Shin Megami Tensei is growing steadily in terms of sales, but it is, on the other hand, it’s still not as good as the native Persona. However, the publisher Atlus has not yet committed to changing to “Persona” completely. For example, a sequel – Soul Hackers 2, is being developed. Additionally, there has been indirect evidence that Shin Megami Tensei V will be porting to different platforms. Perhaps it will catch up to Persona..
